Kanakuk International is a ministry of encouragement, vision building, and the sharing of people and ideas with international leaders in youth evangelism and discipleship through sports and outdoor recreation. This program seeks to support Christian camping worldwide, offering Kanakuk’s expertise to camping organizations in places like India, Africa, Brazil, and Egypt.
The dedication to and heart for Christ and non-believers of these pioneers in foreign lands are amazing and have touched the hearts of many at Kanakuk! However, what they’ve often lacked is expertise in various camp operations, resources, and a network of like-minded camp directors who can share ideas and give encouragement. Establishing that network is the vision behind Kanakuk International, the newest Kanakuk non-profit ministry, and this conference is the first step toward Joe White’s goal of helping Christians from other parts of the world who are reaching people for Christ through camping.
Kanakuk hosted its first international training symposium for over 40 delegates from 29 nations in May of this year. The conference brought participants from countries like India, South Africa, and Brazil to Branson for sessions on camp organization, activity planning, technology utilization, and food services management. Plans are already in the works for a second conference to build on the successes of this inaugural event. Kanakuk International is also continuing to expand its operations in order to provide special assistance to these new foreign ministries, particularly in providing resources like equipment, technology, and vehicles.
